What’s Display Glass Lens?


The electronic display glass lens play role as front of screen for LCD, tablets,medical device etc. Though it’s not costly part compare to whole screen. but in consider its role as facade in the product, quality plays an important role that should be controlled to match or even more than expectation to strengthen customers’ experience.

Display Glass Lens Substrate(Electronic grade)


Soda lime glass, the regular glass brands like AGC, SCG, Xinyi etc in market. It’s an lower cost option and hardness is 6H after chemical toughened(Good stability).

Aluminosilicate glass, the regular glass brands like Gorilla glass, Dragon Tail, Panda etc in market. It’s relatively higher cost option but better hardness after chemical toughened.

How display glass lens process


To keep the quality(Including surface scratch/dot control, even chamfer in both sides, neat edge, tolerance), CNC is the best option to be applied during production.

After CNC processing, Weiman will arrange for chemically strengthening, silkscreen printing, coatings(AR, AG, AF) and bonding base on customer’s requirements.

What’s the tempering methods to display glass lens


In most case the electronic glass lens apply chemical toughened, it’s because:

1.Lower than 3.2mm normally chemical toughened(Less than 3.2mm weaker in thermal tempering effect or even blow away under tempering process due to too thin).

2.The chemical toughened has better flatness during assembly.

Display Glass Lens Printing


For indoor application, we normally choose common low temperature ink will be enough, lower cost.

For outdoor application, we recommend UV ink to delay the ink’s yellowish due to sunshine.

To both ink types, paint adhesion test should be applied to make sure adhesion ability.

Display Glass Lens Tape


In most case, customers choose different kinds/thickness of tapes in convenient to assembly, Weiman Tech offer tape adhesive to glass service base on customers’ specific requirements.

Usually we will arrange 2 kinds of tape lamination including 3M tapes and OCA tapes.

Packaging


Both sides of PET films will be applied for product clean purpose.

After packed in films, vacuum bag will be apply.

The bag of glass will be packed in carton(together with foam).

Consider actual situation we may apply plywood box(no need fumigation) to guarantee transportation safety.

FAQ


Q1:What’s AR, AG and AF coatings?

A1:AR means anti reflection, single side coating increase 3-4% transmittance, both sides up to 99% in total.

Q2:The soda lime glass and aluminosilicate glass, which should I choose?

A2:If cost lower option, soda lime glass will be better. And aluminosilicate glass has better hardness & clarity but cost higher.

Of course, it also depends on different brands like Corning, Dragon Tail, Panda etc.

Q3:Chemical strengthened and thermal tempered, which one will be a better choice?

A3:Thickness below 3mm and good flatness requirement, chemical strengthened will be a good choice.

Above 3mm, safety glass needed and ceramic ink applied, thermal tempering prefer.
