What’s The Applications For Custom Cover Lens?

We’re not a standard glass supplier but offer various processes for cover lens customization base on customer’s design, so customers’ group already widely refer to:

What’s The Materials Selected To Custom Cover Lens?

For glass substrate, we usually use 2 kinds of glass including soda lime glass and aluminosilicate.

To soda lime glass including brands like AGC, SCG etc. It’s a kind of cheaper option but less hardness(Around 6H), when view from edge it’s a little greeniesh.

To aluminosilicate including brands like Dragon Tail, Panda, Gorilla glass etc. It’s a higher cost option but better hardness(Around 8-9H), the cost & hardness also depend on different brands. When view from edge it’s white.

For inks, we usually use resin ink and ceramic ink.

To resin ink if there special UV resistance requirement we can pick UV resistance ink(like Seiko, Teikoku).

The ceramic ink especially for thermally tempering applicable.

What Options To Custom Cover Lens?

In Weiman, we’re not only offer basic production processes(Cutting, CNC shaping, tempering, printing) but also offers:

Custom Cover Lens Coatings:

AR(Anti Reflection):

It’s a kind of electroplating layer on glass lens surface to increase glass light transmittance(Glass itself around 91%) for 3-4% at single side(double sides up to 99% at upmost).

But for this layer the adhesion ability isn’t excellent that if expose glass front view, AF coating usually added.

Meanwhile, you will find different color tone reflect because of different spectral bands requirements.

AF(Anti Fingerprint):

There usually 2 kinds of methods including electroplating and spray. Except protect the AR coatings, it can also provide easy cleaning surface and hardness support.

The testing method is steel wool abrasion cycles(PVD 3000-5000 times, spray 500-1500 times).

AG(Anti Glare):

Different from above 2 kinds of coatings, the method base on acid etching(mainstream), printing and lamination.

It can scratter the light into different directions, you can imagine when driving the strong light to the screen and then reflect to your eye, it’s quite dangerous. The AG treatment can solve it perfectly.

This kind of treatment with optional parameters including transmittance(VLT), haze and roughness.

Bonding On Custom Cover Lens

It mainly refers tape bonding including:

Adhesive transfer tape

VHB tape

OCA tape

The shapes and sizes can be customized to match with your screen.

What Inspection Will Be Done Base On Your Custom Cover Lens?

Except regular dimensional measurement(caliper, 2D, gauge etc) and visual inspection, we will arrange:

Ink adhesion base on paint adhesion test and colorimeter to test the color difference compare to golden sample.

Chemical strengthening test hardness including CS, DOL and hardness test.

Different coatings have different testing methods(Like VLT, haze and roughness for AG, transmittance/durable test for AR, water angle/durable test for AF).

Custom Cover Lens Production Capabilities

Samples:

For regular glass substrate / color without coatings, usually 2-3 days to be done and around 7-10 days for different coatings / tapes added.

Orders:

Usually 10-15 days for regular glass without coatings / tapes, and around 5-7 days for different coatings / tapes added.
