Adhesive Mounting Structure

Unlike standard cover glass, 3M adhesive cover glass can be supplied with a pre-applied 3M™ adhesive layer on the rear surface before shipment, allowing the glass and mounting interface to be prepared as one OEM component.

Custom 3M Adhesive Cover Glass Process

The production process combines glass fabrication with adhesive preparation so that the finished component can be supplied according to the customer’s assembly drawing.

1. Drawing and Assembly Review
We review the glass outline, dimensions, tolerances, cutouts, printing areas, mounting references and adhesive pattern specified in the drawing.

2. Glass Fabrication
The glass is cut and processed to the required dimensions and geometry. CNC machining can be used for holes, slots, notches and other drawing-based features.

3. Strengthening and Edge Processing
Edge finishing, chemical strengthening or thermal tempering is completed according to the approved product requirements.

4. Printing and Surface Treatment
Silk-screen graphics, borders, logos or symbols are applied when required. AG, AR or AF treatment can also be incorporated into the glass configuration.

5. Adhesive Die-Cutting and Application
The specified 3M™ adhesive is converted or die-cut to the required shape and applied to the designated area on the rear surface of the glass.

6. Adhesive Alignment and Final Inspection
The adhesive position, glass dimensions, printing, surface condition and other specified characteristics are checked against the approved requirements.

7. Protective Packaging
The finished glass component is packaged to protect the glass, printed surface and adhesive area during handling and transportation.

Adhesive Placement

The adhesive layout is determined by the mounting structure of the finished product. It can be positioned only where bonding is required, rather than covering the entire rear surface of the glass.
