In Weiman, we offer cover glass lens customization services including:

Cutting: Rough shapes by diamond unit or laser cutting from big sheet of glass substrate into rough shapes of the final products, but edge is still sharp and big tolerances.

CNC processings:Edge grinding and chamfering, slotting, hole drilling.

Tempering: Chemically strengthening for thickness under 3.0mm and thermally tempering for 3.0mm thickness above.

Silk screen print: For thin thickness cover glass option, we use resin ink for print and for thermal tempering we use 3.0mm thickness above.

Coatings(AR, AF, AG):

AR means anti reflection by electroplating base on different spectral bands, single side increase 3-4% light transittance and double sides up to 99% at most.

AF with 2 kinds of methods including electroplating(costly but more durable) and spray(cheaper but less durable), it can also protect the AR coating from easy peel off.

Bonding: Mainly focus on 3M tapes including adhesive transfer tape, VHB tape and OCA tapes.

Lamination: Foil to protect from dirt and explosion proof sheet for better anti scatter.

Why Chemical toughened Cover Glass is the Preferred Choice?

In the context of optical bonding, minimizing warpage between the cover glass and the LCD panel is critical.

Any deviation or gap beyond the specified tolerance can compromise the bonding integrity and adversely affect the performance of the entire sensor system.

Chemically strengthened glass excels in this regard, as it can maintain warpage control within an exceptionally tight tolerance of <0.2mm (for a 3mm thickness example).

In contrast, thermally tempered glass typically achieves a warpage tolerance of only <0.5mm (for the same thickness).

This superior flatness ensures a more precise and reliable bonding process, reducing the risk of defects.

Additionally, chemically strengthened glass exhibits a central compressive stress range of 450MPa to 650MPa, significantly enhancing its scratch resistance and mechanical durability.

This combination of low warpage and high stress performance makes chemically strengthened glass the top choice for cover glass applications.

Particularly in high-precision and demanding environments.
